Alan Sepinwall Rolling Stone For now, at least, Picard seems to be doing its best to hearken back to the way its title character’s stories used to be told, while blending that with this more modern approach. Rated: 3.5/5 Mar 3, 2022 Full Review Christian Blauvelt IndieWire The thing about those bad first seasons of “Trek” shows? They’re always the precursor to a startling turnaround. Sometimes that uptick happens in Season 2, sometimes later. “Picard” has already made it so. Rated: A- Mar 3, 2022 Full Review Brian Lowry CNN.com While seeing Stewart at the helm is in some respects reward enough, the producers rely a bit too heavily on that goodwill with a season that, three hours in, feels as if it's barely gotten out of drydock. Mar 3, 2022 Full Review Aaron Phillips But Why Tho? A Geek Community Picard Season 2 is continues the precedent of laying down a fantastic narrative through the use compelling and captivating characters. The set design is meticulous, and the visuals are stunning. Rated: 8.5/10 Jan 23, 2023 Full Review Danielle Solzman Solzy at the Movies Season 2 of Star Trek: Picard ups the action and delivers a solid Star Trek storyline. Rated: 4/5 May 10, 2022 Full Review Jessie Gender Jessie Gender YouTube Channel While it starts strong, and it's focus on recontextualizing trauma remains earnestly admirable, the season ultimately doesn't have enough story to propel its 10-hour runtime, leading to meandering plots that rely more on nostalgia then storytelling. D H It's kind of the same old same old for RT. Top critics reviews are valuable but the general audience reviews are pointless. Social media is run by children who'd rather be in tictok or x, where everything is encapsulated in 15 second segments. Picard is what it is. Nostalgic, acting is decent, and the story was decently multilayered (at least for those that can actually read a book, versus x, facebook, and TT). And, if you were smart enough to realize it, one of the main points is actually "stop being a millennial and post millennial victim, and stop blaming everything on your past and experiences". Everyone has them, and everyone that has become great, big and small, has had to overcome something. Oh, is my note too judgy lol Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/06/25 Full Review Audience Member I'm a huge Q fan so this went over well, but I do think the story could have been a bit better. It's really the acting and nostalgia that makes this a good season to still watch. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/15/25 Full Review Jeff R Confusing plot makes no sense Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/29/25 Full Review George A A friend said this was way better than season one. It wasn’t. Really bad. They try to retcon season one but it doesn’t help. I gave up about three episodes in. Avoid. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 12/15/24 Full Review Ger F So bad as to be Cultural vandalism Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 12/07/24 Full Review Marty S I found the 2nd season very dark and not up beat as Star Trek usually can be. Very creative, but tough to watch all the negative plots during a bad time in the real world. Only the end of the season is fairly unexpected and better.
