A hostage crisis tops this week’s top 10 list. iHostage, which depicts a standoff in an Amsterdam Apple store, debuts at No. 1 on the chart. Life or Something Like It, a romantic dramedy, comes in at No. 2, and a documentary about the Oklahoma City bombing sits at No. 3. 10. Sing (2016)
Sing introduces the audience to a world of Calatonia, a city inhabited by anthropomorphic animals. Koala Buster Moon (Matthew McConaughey) owns a struggling theater that will soon close if he does not turn things around. Buster believes a singing competition will revitalize his theater. Due to a misprint, the singing competition’s prize goes from $1,000 to $100,000. Because of this error, the competition attracts a huge crowd of contestants. In the end, Buster zeroes in on five contestants: Rosita the pig (Reese Witherspoon), Mike the mouse (Seth MacFarlane), Ash the punk-rock porcupine (Scarlett Johansson), Johnny the gorilla (Taron Egerton), and Meena the elephant (Tori Kelly). With this talented group, perhaps Buster can save his theater after all.
9. The Passion of the Christ (2004)
Director Mel Gibson crafted the 2004 Christian epic, The Passion of the Christ, the highest-grossing independent film of all time. Based on the gospels in the New Testament, Gibson stages the final days of Jesus Christ (Jim Caviezel), beginning with The Last Supper. Judas (Luca Lionello), one of the disciples, betrays Jesus and turns him over to the Roman guards.
Jesus then is condemned to death and forced to drag a wooden cross through the street to Calvary, where he will be nailed to it and die. The Passion of the Christ does not hold back in its violent and bloody depiction of Christianity’s defining moment.
8. One of Them Days (2025)
One of the year’s surprise hits is now on Netflix in One of Them Days. Keke Palmer and SZA star as friends Dreux and Alyssa, who live together with the latter’s boyfriend, Keshawn (Joshua Neal). On the first day of the month, the girls realize that Keshawn has stolen their $1,500 rent payment. The girls must pay the rent by 6 p.m. or they will be evicted.
Without any money, Dreux and Alyssa hit the town and devise multiple plans to get the money. Unfortunately for the girls, eviction might be the least of their concerns, especially when they run into the neighborhood gangster.
7. Lucy (2014)
Scarlett Johansson finds herself in a precarious situation in Lucy, a sci-fi drama from Luc Besson. When Lucy Miller (Johansson) is tricked into delivering a package to a crime lord, criminals make her a drug mule. While transporting drugs hidden in her abdomen, they mistakenly explode and slip into her bloodstream. Instead of killing her, the drugs give Lucy superhuman abilities, including telepathy, telekinesis, and mental time travel.
With these newfound powers, Lucy exacts her revenge against the criminals who made her this way. The more power Lucy receives, the more out of control she becomes. With help from a neurologist (Morgan Freeman), Lucy hopes to harness her powers before it’s too late.
6. The Life List (2025)
Sofia Carson is on a mission to complete a series of tasks in the romantic dramedy, The Life List. Alex Rose (Carson) is not living her dream life. To make matters worse, Alex’s mother, Elizabeth (Connie Britton), dies after a battle with cancer. During the reading of the will, Alex learns that she has been passed over for CEO at her company.
When she’s alone, Alex watches a video from Elizabeth, asking her to complete a set of bucket list tasks. As she completes a task, she will learn more about her inheritance. This list takes Alex throughout the city as she starts living life to the fullest. Who knows, she might even find love.
5. The Croods (2013)
One night, Eep sneaks out and meets Guy (Ryan Reynolds), a modern teenage boy. Guy introduces the Croods to new inventions, much to Grug’s dismay. While Grug refuses to adapt, the rest of the Cruds want to live by the new rules. When Guy informs the Croods about an impending apocalypse, Greg must decide whether to trust this new stranger.
4. Despicable Me 4 (2024)
The popular Minions return in Despicable Me 4. After spending years as a villain, Gru (Steve Carell) is now a secret agent for the Undercover Anti-Villain League (AVL). While attending a class reunion, Gru runs into his old rival, Maxime Le Mal (Will Ferrell). After learning Maxime enhanced himself with cockroach body parts, Gru had him arrested and sent to prison.
The incarceration does not last long after Maxime escapes prison and goes after Gru and his family. Forced into hiding, Gru and his family move to a safe house in a new town. Gru must devise a plan to stop Maxime from turning his son into a cockroach hybrid.

Lanie Kerrigan (Angelina Jolie) has the perfect life as a Seattle television reporter. She has it all: money, fame, and notoriety. It’s a superficial life, but it makes her happy.
During a segment, Lanie interviews Prophet Jack (Tony Shalhoub), whose predictions always come true. When Jack tells Lanie that she will die next week, she thinks nothing of it. Once Jack’s other predictions comes true, she freaks and starts reevaluating her life. In a panic, Lanie seeks solace in her enemy, cameraman Pete Scanlon (Edward Burns), who teaches her to live life to its fullest.
1. iHostage (2025)
Most of you will correctly guess that iHostage involves tech giant Apple. However, did you know the thriller is based on a true story? In iHostage, Dutch national Ammar Ajar (Soufiane Moussouli) walks into an Amsterdam Apple Store and demands $200 million. Ammar is armed and willing to hurt innocent people if he does not get what he wants — cryptocurrency and safe passage out of the city.
Chief negotiator Lynn (Loes Haverkort) is called to the scene and asked to diffuse the situation. While trying to empathize with Ammar, Police Commander Kees van Zanten (Marcel Hensema) works on getting the hostages out safely. It’s a tense thriller that might end in tragedy if not handled with precise care.
