We’ve already gotten to play new entries across the Zelda, Super Mario, and Pokémon series on Nintendo Switch, but there are still plenty of great games on the way for the hybrid console. This includes exclusive games developed internally by Nintendo, as well as third-party titles and ports of games that are also available on other platforms. Not all upcoming video games make their way to Switch, but plenty do!

Here’s our list of the best upcoming Nintendo Switch games for 2025 and beyond. Of course, some titles are also upcoming Switch 2 games. And if you’re looking at all upcoming video games across every console, don’t forget to check out what’s upcoming on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC this year.

If you were to think about it a little too deeply, Pac-Man has always been a creepy concept. Shadow Labyrinth makes that horror explicit by reimagining this arcade classic as a dark and mysterious Metroidvania. That concept is already interesting enough, but the footage also looks like it will play great as well.

One of 2017’s absolute best games is getting a sequel in Hollow Knight: Silksong, and it’s headed to Nintendo Switch sometime in the future. It will take the stunning visuals, Metroidvania gameplay, and atmosphere of the original Hollow Knight and put you in the shoes (do these creatures wear shoes?) of Hornet, a princess who is tasked with protecting Hallownest. Silksong was announced in 2022 and we haven’t gotten much of an update on its development, but hopefully, we won’t have to wait much longer. If it’s half as good as the original, we’re all in for a treat.

We don’t know a lot about Haunted Chocolatier yet, but developer ConcernedApe’s follow-up to Stardew Valley is easily the most anticipated cozy game in development right now. Haunted Chocolatier begins with the player starting up a chocolate shop while living in a haunted castle in the middle of a snowy community. The player will need to seek out a wide variety of ingredients and alliances to make the best chocolate possible and ultimately reach success. Right now, only a PC release has been mentioned officially, but Stardew Valley was eventually released on all platforms and we don’t see why this title would be treated differently.

Switch 2 vs. Switch Lite: is the upgrade worth the heavy price?
The Switch 2 next to a TV with Mario Kart.

Each video game console generation is getting longer and longer, with the Switch hanging on for 8 years before we got official information about the Switch 2. Over that time, we got a couple of different versions of the original Switch with some distinct differences, but how does each one stack up against the Switch 2? We can look at the Switch 2 vs. Switch for a baseline, but what about the Switch 2 vs. Switch OLED and Switch Lite? With this console costing quite a bit more than the current systems, and upcoming Switch 2 games also getting a price increase, should you hold on to your Switch Lite, or is the Switch 2 worth the heavy cost?

If you're more of a PC player who likes playing handheld, we have also compared the Switch 2 vs. Steam Deck to see which is the king of the handhelds.

Nintendo just landed a huge console exclusive for Switch and Switch 2
Hades 2 key art from its first trailer.

Supergiant just confirmed Hades 2 will be exclusive to the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 consoles at launch, though it will come to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series at a later date. Supergiant broke the news in the latest Creator's Voice at Nintendo, where studio leads Greg Kasavin, Amir Rao, and Darren Korb spoke about the development process and what inspired the new gameplay elements in the sequel.

Hades 2 is the studio's first-ever sequel and a direct follow-up to its predecessor, a game that took home numerous Game of the Year awards. Until now, all of its games have been one-offs like Bastion and Transistor. "After more than 15 years, we decided to try one," Kasavin said. "We approach sequels with a great deal of fear and respect," he added with a laugh.

The Nintendo Switch 2 could still be vulnerable to the original’s biggest issue
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom runs on a Switch 2 screen.

Nintendo has confirmed that the Switch 2 will not use Hall Effect sensors in its Joy-Cons, and unfortunately, that means it's still vulnerable to stick drift. Instead, the handheld will use analog-style sticks, but Nintendo assures fans they have been redesigned to combat one of the biggest problems of the original Nintendo Switch.

In an interview with Nintendo Life, Nate Bihldorff, Nintendo of America's Senior Vice President of Product Development & Publishing, provided details on what to expect from Nintendo's next console. "The Joy-Con 2's controllers have been designed from the ground up. They're not Hall Effect sticks, but they feel really good," he said.
