ISO/IEC�� JTC1 / SC22 / WG4 has the scope of the development and maintenance of ISO/IEC standards and other specifications for programming language COBOL.

Approved international standards and other specifications include:

• ISO/IEC 1989:2002, Information technology -- Programming languages -- COBOL
• ISO/IEC TR 19755:2003, Information technology -- Programming languages, their environments and system software interfaces -- Object finalization for programming language COBOL
• ISO/IEC TR 24716:2007, Information technology -- Programming languages, their environment and system software interfaces -- Native COBOL Syntax for XML Support
• ISO/IEC TR 24717:2009, Information technology -- Programming languages, their environments and system software interfaces -- Collection classes for programming language COBOL

The following corrigenda correct defects in ISO/IEC 1989:2002:

• ISO/IEC 1989:2002/Cor 1:2006, Technical corrigendum 1
• ISO/IEC 1989:2002/Cor 2:2006, Technical corrigendum 2
• ISO/IEC 1989:2002/Cor 3:2009, Technical corrigendum 3

Work on projects includes:

• Revision of ISO/IEC 1989
• Defect Reports and Records of Response

WG4 has assigned the detailed development of the revision of ISO/IEC 1989:2002 to WG4's Other Working Group 1 (WG4/OWG-1).

WG4 has delegated the detailed processing of defect reports and associated responses to INCITS/PL22.4, COBOL Task Group, in the USA.
