Hoof 'n' Horn
is the South's oldest student-run musical theater organization,
and we embrace every part of that title. Not only does being the oldest give us a lot
of great history and many wonderful alums, but the fact that we are student-run
makes Hoof 'n' Horn unique. Every aspect of our productions comes directly from
the hard work of students. Producing, directing, performing, design, management,
marketing, and all of the other positions it takes to put on a great show are filled by
Duke students.
Working on a Hoof 'n' Horn production is a fun, fulfilling, and educational
experience. We produce three mainstage shows each school year, and have a
traveling Children's Theater group that performs for children and school groups in
the Durham area.
Hoof 'n' Horn does occasionally have participants from that school down
the road with a different preferred shade of blue, and from the greater Duke
community. In the past, graduate students and members of the Duke staff have
also been a part of shows. All casting calls are open, and everyone is welcome to
audition.
Hoof 'n' Horn is not just a group but a thriving social organization as well. We
host open social functions throughout the year, affording us a chance to relax and
have fun together outside of rehearsals. We'd love for you to join our family.
If you have any questions or interest in joining Hoof 'n' Horn, please do not
hesitate to contact me (ruthie.griffith AT duke DOT edu). I look forward to hearing from
you.
