Elsa Keslassy

Elsa Keslassy is Variety's Executive Editor of International. Based out of Paris, she oversees a team of award-winning correspondents while helping guide the magazine's reporting at key film and TV festivals and markets, including Cannes, Venice, Berlin and Mipcom. She's also in charge of covering the entertainment industry in France, Scandinavia, the Netherlands and Israel. She has interviewed French President Emmanuel Macron for a cover story in which he discussed France's cultural boom. She has also interviewed top filmmakers, stars and entertainment figures, including Jacques Audiard, Coralie Fargeat, David Cronenberg, Ruben Ostlund, Florian Zeller, Catherine Deneuve, Marion Cotillard, Juliette Binoche, Cannes Film Festival chief Thierry Fremaux, Mediawan CEO Pierre-Antoine Capton, Canal+ Group CEO Maxime Saada and Pathé chairman Jerome Seydoux. She was previously senior international film editor and prior to that, international correspondent. She holds a degree in print journalism from USC’s Annenberg School for Communication. She lived a number of years in Los Angeles and began her career in documentary, working for Kirby Dick, the director/producer of Oscar-nominated "The Invisible War.” She started writing for Variety out of the L.A. office in 2007, before moving back to her hometown in Paris a year later to become the trade’s France correspondent.
