Where do the population figures for the periods before the Han dynasty come from? In the sources cited, I could only find population figures for years after 0 CE.

Incredible claims require credible sources, this section has none. Every single sentence here requires a credible source, they are important points that require thorough vetting. The one reference given is a dead link (China in the world economy: 1300-2030), wasn't even about this period and was not authoritative enough to start with, it is poorly researched and referenced and is nothing but a self-referential fluff piece with no historical basis (https://ijb.cyut.edu.tw/var/file/10/1010/img/852/V113-1.pdf). I've notices many of these unsubstantiated claims have made it further downstream into other historical websites, quoting wikipedia as it was the credible source for these claims. Bad academic scholarship practices all round, especially from this Angus Maddison who should no better. 60.241.20.232 (talk) 23:05, 25 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
