On election night, view live Indiana Senate election results.

Senator Evan Bayh’s decision not to seek re-election upended the race and complicated the chances of keeping the seat in Democratic hands. Representative Brad Ellsworth, a former sheriff from Evansville, is the Democratic nominee. Former Senator Dan Coats, who has more recently been a Washington lobbyist, is the Republican candidate. As Mr. Coats and Mr. Ellsworth go head-to-head in this conservative-leaning state, Democrats are hoping to capitalize on the lobbying background of Mr. Coats, while Republicans are trying to seize upon the record that Mr. Ellsworth has established in Congress, most recently his support of President Obama’s health care plan.
